anyone have any thoughts on the group's performance in tempe last week? this was my first time to see them and i enjoyed it very much. i have mostly seen solo butoh artists on stage versus a group and this is a good one to see. i was disappointed though that there was no intro or leaflet about butoh on the program. after the show, i overheard several comments: "i don't think they knew what they (dancers) were doing" and "that was a waste of money!" i wish they were better informed on what butoh is about, or what "kagemi", the dance itself is about. i felt that these two things could have made it more accessible for people who either do not watch dance regularly and/or are less inclined to abstraction.
