Semimaru Butoh Dance Workshop 2009 in Toyama, Japan
from August 21st to 29th, 2009

Semimaru, who is one of the founders and a dancer of Sankai juku for 33 years , will have Butoh workshop in August 2009 in Toyama prefecture, Japan.
The Semimaru workshop has been made annually for almost 20 years.This workshop is made up of the basic exercises of the Butoh method that Semimaru has elaborated and the public presentation of the choreography work developed through them that all participants will be encouraged to take part in.

Although it depends on each participant to be partof the performance, he/she is recommended to go through the entire course. It's a resident style with 2 very simple meals per day, taking a person-on-duty system for cooking and washing etc... The actual training occupies no less than 6 hours per day( including preparation for costume and stage set etc). Not only beginners but also infants are welcome here. Located in the rich nature of Toyama, AGURI-KAN, a closed-down old elementary school, is also a good place for chill out in the summer.


We are also pleased to have professional and experienced dancers and performers here with us to enjoy the workshop. Come on, join us at AGURI-KAN, Toyama, and enjoy the beautiful summer in the western part of Japan !
