I put this on my blog, but I thought I should share it with you all and invite you to comment.
I was playing in some space this past weekend and revisited some movement techniques from a past butoh workshop I took with Shinichi Iova-Koga. It was about moving in space with no control but with control. I remember doing an exercise called the "drunken walk" where you're stumbling all over the place and then just as you're about to fall, you don't. of course, keeping it as smooth as possible, he he....i had so much fun with this and have a couple of bruises but it was so great! I felt liberated, refreshed, dangerous, scared, anxious, silly, crazy, yet normal. How fun! has anyone experienced this or something like it?

Re: Uncontrolled movement
Wed, February 7, 2007 - 12:38 PMhey Liz,
totally! i took one of Shin's workshop too, and while we didn't do the drunken walk, we did do some exercises using control/uncontrolled movement. i find it to be totally liberating as well! except i have a tendency to get totally out of control at times, which is another interesting thing to experience. lol! sometimes painful though if you're not in a safe environment. i love playing with this material at the beach, since the sand is a pretty soft surface to fall on. hee-hee! hope you continue your exploration and have fun! we should meet on the beach sometime and plaaaayyyy!!!

Re: Uncontrolled movement
Fri, March 2, 2007 - 3:24 AMYes I use it all the time. Every dance is different from the other even if it have similaretys to each other. It's not me that teach my body to move it's the opposite. There are some methods where you can get in contact with the dynamic force of life that is wery similar to tai-chi, qi-gong etc. -

Thu, March 8, 2007 - 2:29 AMWhat methods are you reffering to? I'm discovering the Grinberg method which i find quite impressive, I'm even considering becoming a practicioner. So if anyone out there knows more about this, please let me know. G
