I know it's mostly peripheral here... but where is the respect?

  • Seems like teachers are popping up in San Francisco,, Portland, Seattle, NYC, Boston and many other US places. Not everyone draws inspiration from the landscape, but the landscape is central to American identity, similar but different from Japan. I think land and nature as an inspiration for improvisation is a rich source, seeing, the audience feels something but may not know why. Land is also a free performance venue!
  • In my admittedly limited experience practicing Butoh,
It would seem that here in america,
Butoh is quickly assimilating all available traditional dance forms
and infusing them with an emotional and metaphysical force
that they had not possessed previously.
This, naturally, should lead to a sort of Grand Unified Dance Form,
or perhaps a throw back to cultures eradicated by the western War God Machine,
where a dance was a practice of entering oneness with the Universe,
and therefore becoming able to influence it to a greater degree.
As for the location of respect....
I do not know how you mean that.
