hey all y'alls,

i'm doing a project which somehow has evolved to incorporate an exploration of my curiosity with evil (???), and was wondering if i could have permission from any of you who answered the question on "your definition of evil" to use some of your answers as text?

thanks!

      thanks guys!

well, i'm basically exploring my personal demons of "evil" within myself in this dance project, which has made me question my own definition of evil, while also reflecting upon the definitions of others, along with that of our society/ culture/ current administration/ etc. but it's basically stemming from some of my personal experiences with evil, and i guess coming to terms with it. i may perform this at the SF Art Institute's Asian Performances Series in April, if i feel it's ready by then. otherwise, not sure. i'll keep y'all posted!

      thanks again!

        I feel like suggesting this:

If there is such a "thing" as evil, it doesn't generally look evil and it actually probably often looks "pretty cool" (in the sense it's seductive and it probably has to do with being relaxed about grave things: a kind of self satisfaction in denying urgent issues and not taking any responsability). That's our evil, the evil we put up with and indulge in every second of our lives at this day and age: being pretty cool in a world that fundamentally is not! (instead of doign something)

Maybe someone already wrote something similar to this previously: if that is the case I'm sorrry for the repeat, but I didn't take the time to read all the other answers yet.

I think I wrote this, because I sensed that the danger of dealing with evil on stage is to make it too obvious, something like a Walt Disney-baddy portrayal : there are all sorts of clichés around "evil" and it's probably very different to get rid of them and produce something different and "clearer".

        Good luck

Please attribute whatever comments of mine that you'd like to reference to either

    Loki Freign

    or

    XPIN

    - whichever of those names you feel suits your envisioned product more snugly. I like evil, so, if you want more verbiage, let me know. It runs out of me pretty much non-stop.
